1. Acceptance of these terms
By using Blitzle, including as a guest, you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, don't use the site.
2. The service
Blitzle is a free streak game on live public chess games from Lichess (lichess.org). You watch a live 3- or 5-minute game and call whether White wins, the game is drawn, or Black wins. Each right call adds one to your run, and your third wrong call ends it. The Stockfish chess engine estimates the chance of each result, and we show those chances as percentages.
The service is free. Nothing on Blitzle is for sale, no payment is ever needed or accepted, and there are no cash prizes. You never risk or win money on the site.
Calls. You can make one call per game, during its first 8 moves, and up to three calls can wait on their games at once. The board may play a few seconds behind the live game; your call counts on the position on your screen. A call is final once you make it and records the chance shown at that moment. A call is void, and changes nothing, if the game is aborted, if you made it within 2 seconds before the final move or after it, or if the game gets no result within 2 hours. Calls have no value. We may correct or reset call records to fix errors or undo a breach of these terms.
One run a day. You get one run each day, New York time. It is that day's ranked run and counts for the daily leaderboard.
The daily winner. Each day, the best ranked run by an eligible player that reaches 12 right calls is named the day's winner on that day's results page. If several runs qualify, the longest wins, then the one whose right calls had the lowest chances, then the one that got there first. If none qualifies, there is no winner that day. Being the day's winner is recognition only: no cash or other prize is given, and winners are always named publicly.
Duels. In a duel, you and one other player each make one call on the same live game and can guess its moves. A right call is worth 20 points (if you're both right, only the one who called at the lower chance gets them; at the same chance, both do). Each player guesses the moves of one color, given at random when the duel starts: each right guess on that color's moves is worth 1 point and each wrong one costs 1. More points wins the duel; the same is a tie. Duels are for fun and your record only: nothing is won or lost.
Friends. You can add other players as friends. Friends see each other's username, today's run and day streak (unless you hide your streak in your account settings). Anyone who opens your invite link becomes your friend, so share it only with people you know. You can remove a friend at any time.
We may change, pause or stop any part of the service at any time.
3. Accounts and guest play
To create an account, you choose a username, give an email address and set a password. Give accurate information, keep your email address current, keep your password secret and don't share your account. You are responsible for what happens in your account. If you think someone else has used it, tell us at chesstreaks@gmail.com. To appear on the leaderboards or be named the day's winner, you need a signed-up account (not a guest account) with a confirmed email address, and only one account per person is allowed.
You can also play as a guest. We then create a guest account tied to a cookie in your browser; if you clear your cookies or switch devices, you may lose it and its record. You can turn a guest account into a full account at any time.
You can change your email and password, download your data and delete your account in your account settings.
4. Fair play and usernames
You must not:
- Create or use more than one account, or let anyone else use yours.
- Use bots, scripts or any tool that makes calls for you or gives you a speed advantage.
- Collude with other users to steer ranked results.
- Exploit the delay between our feed and the Lichess website, or call your own Lichess games or those of players you are coordinating with.
- Try to manipulate a game, a shown chance or a result.
- Probe, scan, scrape, overload or disrupt the site, or get around its security or rate limits.
- Use the site to break the law or to harass, threaten or impersonate anyone.
Your username is public and may appear on leaderboards and results pages. It must not be offensive, hateful, sexually explicit or harassing, impersonate anyone (including a Lichess player or us), suggest an affiliation that doesn't exist, or include someone else's personal information.
If we believe you have broken these rules, we may void your calls, correct your records, remove you from the leaderboards, change your username, or suspend or close your account.
5. Lichess data and no affiliation
Blitzle uses the public Lichess API to show live public games. Game data, including moves, results, usernames and ratings, comes from Lichess. Blitzle is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Lichess. Lichess may change or limit access to its data at any time, which may affect or stop parts of the service.
If you play on Lichess and want to know what we keep about you, or want your games excluded, see Lichess players in our Privacy Policy.
6. Intellectual property and open source
We, or our licensors, own the site, its design, text and code, except for the third-party parts listed below. We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable permission to use the site for its intended purpose under these terms. You may not copy, sell or redistribute the site or its content except as the law or an open-source license allows.

- The server uses Express, ws, helmet and express-rate-limit (MIT), nodemailer (MIT-0), and web-push and resvg-js (Mozilla Public License 2.0).
Nothing in these terms limits your rights under these licenses.
7. Suspension and termination
You can stop using Blitzle at any time and delete your account in your account settings. We may suspend or close your account, or block your access, if you break these terms, to protect other users or the site, or if the law requires it. Where it's practical and lawful, we'll tell you why. Sections 6, 8, 9 and 10 survive termination.
8. Disclaimers
Blitzle IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE", WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE AND NON-INFRINGEMENT, TO THE FULLEST EXTENT THE LAW ALLOWS. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT LIVE GAME DATA IS TIMELY, COMPLETE OR CORRECT, THAT THE CHANCES SHOWN (ESTIMATES FROM A CHESS ENGINE) REFLECT THE REAL CHANCE OF ANY RESULT, OR THAT THE SITE WILL BE AVAILABLE OR FREE OF ERRORS.
Nothing on Blitzle is financial, gambling or legal advice.
9. Limitation of liability
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT THE LAW ALLOWS, Blitzle AND ITS OWNERS, EMPLOYEES AND AGENTS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OF DATA, CALL RECORDS OR GOODWILL, ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF Blitzle. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS RELATED TO Blitzle IS LIMITED TO $100.
Some jurisdictions don't allow some of these limits; there, they apply only as far as the law allows. Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't be limited by law.
10. Governing law and disputes
The laws of the State of Florida and applicable US federal law govern these terms, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. If you have a dispute with us, please email chesstreaks@gmail.com first and give us 30 days to try to resolve it informally. If we can't, any lawsuit must be brought only in the state or federal courts located in Florida, and you and we consent to their personal jurisdiction. Nothing in this section takes away consumer protection rights that can't be waived.
11. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. When we do, we'll change the "Last updated" date at the top of this page, and if a change is significant we'll tell you by email or with a notice on the site before it takes effect. If you keep using Blitzle after a change takes effect, you accept the new terms.
12. General
These terms and the Privacy Policy are the entire agreement between you and us about Blitzle. If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest stays in effect. If we don't enforce a part of these terms, that isn't a waiver of our right to enforce it later. You may not transfer your rights under these terms; we may transfer ours to a successor operator of the site.
